A Halloween campaign that fits your brand in Japan

A Halloween campaign that fits your brand in Japan

Halloween offers a visual theme, but a pumpkin added to an existing advertisement is not yet a campaign idea. Start with a customer situation where your product can play a useful or enjoyable role.

Comnico's Japanese roundup of Halloween posts offers examples to explore. We recommend studying the connection between the occasion and the product, then developing your own creative approach.

Choose a product connection

A homeware brand could demonstrate a seasonal table arrangement. A fashion brand could show two ways to style an existing item. A food brand could explain a serving idea using products that are genuinely available in Japan.

Choose a connection that the customer can understand quickly. The content should still make sense when someone has no prior knowledge of the campaign.

Make participation easy

If you invite a response, ask a question that can be answered without sharing private information. A choice between two product colours may be enough. Decide what the team will do with the answers before publishing.

For a customer-photo idea, establish the permission and review process in advance. A tag gives you a way to find a post; it does not settle the question of how your brand may reuse it.

Review the Japan details

Check Japanese wording, local product availability and the destination page. A seasonal creative concept loses value if the linked offer cannot be bought in Japan or the important delivery information is difficult to find.

Use imagery you own or have permission to use. If the concept depends on a recognizable character or borrowed artwork, resolve those rights before production. Japan's Agency for Cultural Affairs explains common copyright questions.

Decide what comes after the post

Connect the post to one suitable action: explore a real product, find a store, or join a clearly explained activity. Give the person handling replies an accurate brief.

After the campaign, record the useful signals and the unanswered questions. Attention alone does not establish product sales. A seasonal campaign should help you learn something you can use for the next occasion.
